Law Enforcement Information Requests
Last updated: July 13, 2026
1. Overview
These guidelines explain how SellDrop responds to requests for user information from law enforcement and government agencies. SellDrop discloses information only when required by valid legal process.
2. Required Legal Process
The type of legal process required depends on the category of information requested:
- Basic subscriber records (such as name and email) require a valid subpoena.
- Transactional records and non-content account information require a court order.
- The contents of communications or stored files require a valid search warrant issued on probable cause.
3. Request Requirements
All requests must include the following information:
- The name of the requesting agency.
- The name and badge or identification number of the requesting officer.
- An official government email address.
- A direct telephone number, including extension.
- A physical mailing address (post-office boxes are not accepted).
- A requested response date that allows reasonable time to respond.
Requests should be sent to legal@selldrop.io with the subject line "Information Request - Law Enforcement".
4. Data Preservation
On a valid preservation request, SellDrop will preserve available records for 90 days, and will extend the preservation once for an additional 90 days (up to 180 days total) on a renewed request.
5. International Requests
Requests from authorities outside the United States must be submitted through a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) or a letter rogatory, unless an applicable law provides otherwise.
6. User Notice
SellDrop may notify affected users or merchants of a request for their information before disclosure, unless prohibited by law (such as a court-ordered nondisclosure) or in an emergency involving risk of harm.
7. Emergency Requests
In emergencies involving a good-faith belief of imminent risk of death or serious physical injury, SellDrop may disclose information on a case-by-case basis. Emergency requests should be sent to legal@selldrop.io with the subject line "Emergency Disclosure Request".
8. Cost Reimbursement
SellDrop may seek reimbursement for the costs of responding to a request to the extent permitted by law.
